چکیده
The AMSARG is a subcommittee of the AMS Committee on Education, chaired by Roger Howe and charged with representing the AMS to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) in its revision of the NCTM Standards. Starting in 1989, the NCTM issued three sets of Standards for K–12 mathematics: one set on mathematics curricula, one on assessment, and one on the mathematics teaching profession. The revision will involve updating and refining the existing Standards and blending the three sets into a single document. More background about the work of the AMSARG may be found in the feature article by Roger Howe in this issue of the Notices. The questions that the AMSARG was to answer are listed in a letter from Mary M. Lindquist to Roger Howe that is reproduced in a box with his article. Briefly, these questions are: (1) Do the current statements of the Standards adequately communicate your view of the discipline? (2) Do the statements of the current curriculum Standards convey a sense of consistency and growth in content themes as the student moves across the grade levels? (3) Do the statements of the content Standards adequately reflect the mathematical understanding expected of a student graduating in the twenty-first century? (4) What suggestions could you make as to the most effective ways of blending the ideas of content, teaching, and assessment? —Roger Howe American Mathematical Society NCTM2000 Association Resource Group First Report January 1997

متن کاملA re-examination of lexical association measures
We review lexical Association Measures (AMs) that have been employed by past work in extracting multiword expressions. Our work contributes to the understanding of these AMs by categorizing them into two groups and suggesting the use of rank equivalence to group AMs with the same ranking performance. We also examine how existing AMs can be adapted to better rank English verb particle constructi...
متن کاملAssociation of Pityrosporum Ovale infection and Steroid Acne: A case-control study
Background: So far seven types of the genus malassezia have been known. Except for one kind, the rest are normal flora of human skin, which under certain circumstances, cause or trigger eleven diseases. One of the side effects of topical and systemic steroid is steroid acne. Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the association of pityrosporum ovale (Malassezia) and steroid acne...
متن کاملBehavioral Modeling and Simulation of Semiconductor Devices and Circuits Using VHDL-AMS
During the past few years, a lot of work has been done on behavioral models and simulation tools. But a need for modeling strategy still remains. The VHDL-AMS language supports the description of analog electronic circuits using Ordinary Differential Algebraic Equations (ODAEs), in addition to its support for describing discrete-event systems. For VHDL-AMS to be useful to the analog design ...
متن کاملPlasma vascular endothelial growth factor in acute mountain sickness.
STUDY OBJECTIVES To investigate the hypothesis that an increase in circulating vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) occurs in mountaineers at high altitude, particularly in association with acute mountain sickness (AMS) and/or low hemoglobin oxygen saturation. DESIGN : Collection of medical histories, AMS scores, plasma samples, and arterial oxygen saturation (SaO(2)) measurements from m...
